Grown regeneratively, following organic standards, by one of the Meeting House Farm Collaborative Farms.
Chipped roots are dried immediately after harvest in an on-farm drying facility to maximize potency and preserve quality.
We typically harvest Marshmallow roots in September/October.
In the Apothecary:
Preparations: Cold water infusion of fresh or dried root. May be preserved with alcohol.
Uses: Respiratory & digestive system support.
Energetics: Cooling & Moist
Tastes: sweet, syrupy
Herbal Action: Demulcent, emollient, diuretic. Roots especially will coat the throat and the digestive tract to reduce inflammation and aid in the body's own healing.
From our Experience:
We make marshmallow extract using a cold-water infusion. We add white pine or wild cherry extract and honey to make a wonderful cough syrup for our family.
