Dewfall Flowers in Tennessee
Dewfall Flowers
Knoxville, Tennessee
In Knoxville, Tennessee, Dewfall Flowers grows in a small sunny valley just two houses down from Caroline Zengel’s home. For more than sixty years, her neighbor Milton and his wife Kitty tended a quarter acre vegetable garden there, building the soil each autumn with fallen leaves. When Milton turned ninety five, he passed the plot on to Caroline, and she received it as a gift rooted in care, history, and right timing.
Caroline’s love of growing began on a hundred acres of woods and prairie in northeast Oklahoma, where she was her father’s “garden girl” and learned from her mother to slow down for wildflowers along country roads. Today, she grows and dries flowers, herbs, and botanicals by hand, creating everlasting floral art, wreaths, wall hangings, and custom pieces for weddings, memorials, birthdays, homes, and gifts. Using regenerative practices like leaf mulch, wood chips, cover crops, rainwater, and homemade natural inputs, Caroline tends Dewfall Flowers with deep attention to the soil, the seasons, and the quiet beauty that can last.
