Dried Lemon Balm aerial parts

Melissa officinalis

Grown regeneratively, following organic standards, by Green Path Farm in Topsham, Maine.

Plants are dried immediately after harvest in an on-farm drying facility to maximize potency and preserve quality.

We typically harvest Lemon Balm from July through October.

In the Apothecary:

Preparations: Extract of dried leaf in alcohol or oil; infusion of fresh or dried leaf in water.   We use a 1:5 ratio for the dried leaf and a 1:2 ratio for fresh leaf when extracting at Meeting House Farm.

Uses:  Nervous system support

Energetics:  Cooling

Tastes: Mineral, Citrus

Herbal Action:  Nervine, Digestive, Anti-viral

From our Experience:

We love to slip a stem of lemon balm in our water while we work in the fields.  When blending herbal tisanes, lemon balm typically acts as the base herb and combines well with holy basil (tulsi), milky oats, marshmallow, mint, and lavender.
