Witch Hazel

Dried Witch Hazel bark and twigs
Hamamelis virginiana

Witch Hazel is typically harvested May through November.

Traditional uses: Eczema, insect bites, hemorrhoids
Folk wisdom: Sacred plant of the god Hermes. Native to North America, this winter-blooming tree's name comes from the practice of divining for fresh water sources underground using Witch Hazel sticks ("water witching").

Grown using organic and sustainable gardening practices at Rising Herb Farm near Poland, Indiana.

Plants are dried immediately after harvest in our on-farm drying facility to maximize
potency and preserve quality. True to our herbalist training, twigs and bark are kept mostly whole to minimize volatile oil loss before use.
