Sorrel Field Farmstead in Norwich, Vermont

Sorrel Field Farmstead is located in Norwich, Vermont on the ancestral homeland of the Abenaki people. Motivated by a deep purpose to anchor their family on a small plot of earth, Kara and Dan steward the first-generation cultivation of medicinal, healing herbs with mindfulness and reverence for the environment. Their farm reflects their commitment to regenerative agriculture and no-till practices, where every decision is made to build healthy soil, nurture biodiversity, and create a thriving ecosystem.

This family-led initiative weaves ecological care with the practical demands of modern farming. Kara and Dan draw inspiration from fostering plant diversity, learning from the wisdom of local herbalists, and growing their relationship with the natural world. Their vision is centered on resilience, rooted living and producing high-quality herbs with the amount of care and intention that embody their principles.

Sorrel Field Farmstead is forging connections with herbalists and fellow farmers while broadening its offerings and progressing toward organic certification. Kara and Dan are dedicated to becoming a lasting presence in the Northeast’s herbal landscape, cultivating a rich variety of medicinal herbs. To them, plants embody renewal, solace, and possibility, contributing a meaningful way to expand their bond with both nature and their community.
