Heidi Sorensen and her mother, Pollyanna Sorensen, are growing Catnip, Lemon Balm, Calendula, Chamomile, Bergamot and Lavender.
“We set our intentions daily and endeavor to have the least impact on the land as possible. We hand weed, plant, and harvest with mindfulness and enjoyment. We see every day as an adventure in our retirement.
We have been growing lavender and have found that our soil is too rich and moist for happy lavender. We will continue to grow Lavender as an annual because it is so loved. We have purple rocking chairs spread in the fields and encourage people to stop by and enjoy the fields. Last year we added Catnip and it is doing well. This year we are adding the other herbs mentioned. Each year at the end of the season we evaluate and adjust our growing plan for the coming year.”
