In the Garden
Growing Suggestions: Grows best in zones 4-8. Full Sun. Prefers well drained soil and needs little fertilizer. This self-seeding perennial is a member of the mint family and can grow up to 5 feet tall.
Harvesting Suggestions: Harvest the flowers and 1/3 of the top arial parts by hand from June through September. Dry on stem; then remove dried leaves and flowers from the stem and add to infusions. Use the flower and leaves (fresh or dried) in infusions and extracts.

Medicinal Uses: Supports the digestive system. This expectorant has a distinctive anise flavor.
Herbal Actions: Digestive, expectorant.
Tips: This cooling herb is a wonderful addition to cough or digestive blends. Dried purple anise flowers are a beautiful accent to herbal tea (tisane) blends. This herb combines well with Holy Basil, Lemon Balm, Mint or Elecampane.
